8:00 PM – 10:00 PM EDT

Wolff, Lang, They Might Be Giants, Kellaway and White

Join us Monday, September 19th at 8:30pm for an evening of chamber music as bassist Evan Runyon and trombonist Mark Broschinsky take the stage at MISE-EN_PLACE, the Bushwick residence for ENSEMBLE MISE-EN. It will be an evening tracing a lineage of New York composers from Christian Wolff to David Lang, and everything in-between.

The theme of the evening is to be a collection of mid-to-late 20th century popular songs, as arranged for solo and duo. The evening will begin with Christian Wolff’s 1977 take on a American folk song classic, Dark as a Dungeon. The concert will also feature David Lang’s rendition of I Feel Pretty and Dan Levine, trombonist of alt-rock band They Might Be Giants, will present a series of arrangements of They Might be Giants songs, including Sleeping in the Flowers. Local composers Roger Kellaway and Frances White also to be shown.
